My One Year Old

Camden is ONE as of September 23! We are so excited for this new stage in his life as well as in our own. There are definitely going to be some new challenges with a toddler to raise. We really have enjoyed our baby boy this past year and we are looking forward to all that is to come.

Doctor's Visit: 12 Month Check-up

Camden went to the doctor today for his 12 month check-up. He was a very happy boy as we waited in the waiting room. He charmed the receptionist, looked at the fish tank several times, touched the plants, and watched the flag flying outside the window. He continued to be a happy, chattering boy as he went into the examining room for his check-up. The doctor said he looked great and was developing right on schedule, not that we were worried. During this visit, he received 3 shots and a finger prick. He did not cry at all during the finger prick, and calmed down very quickly after the shots. We will see if he remembers what happened when we go back in three months.

Length 29.25 inches (25th percentile)

Weight 21.25 pounds (10-25th percentile)

I guess our boy is no longer in the top of the percentile charts, but he is still growing!

New Accomplishments!

The biggest accomplishment is that Camden has taken his first steps! He did this just before we left for Texas, by taking a couple of steps between Kevin and me before losing his balance. Since then he has taken as many as 7 steps without losing his balance and has stood up without holding on for more than 10 minutes. He is not officially walking yet, but we think it will be soon.

He has expanded his vocabulary to include fish and clock. Today at the doctor's office, Camden was trying very hard to say fish. He kept making the 'f' sound when pointing to the fish and a few times even made the 'ish' sound but was not able to put them together. He also tries very hard to say the word clock. Of course, it does not sound anything like it, but he is very fascinated with clocks. He will point them out everywhere. He finds them in places he has never been before. He sees them in books. And he even notices them on people's wrists! He gets so excited when he sees one, he "makes" me go up to it for a closer look and if the clock is within reaching distance he has to touch it.

Camden's birthday party!

Camden actually had two parties. We went to central Texas during our visit to Texas and saw some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. They brought cupcakes and presents to celebrate Camden's birthday. Then, when we were back in Beaumont, he had another party with my parents, Kevin's parents, brother and uncle. Also, our friend Reatha stopped by the party. He received many presents and we are thankful for our family and friends who honored Camden on his birthday.
