Wow! Time goes by so quickly. It doesn't seem like it has been over a month since my last blog post, but I guess it has. A lot has happened since my last post, but it has all been good times and fun.
Here is a run-down of our life the past month:
I, Sarah, went on a trip with three friends without Camden or Kevin. This was my first time away from Camden. I missed him very, very much. I had a great time, but it wasn't the same without my family. We drove to Kentucky to see a horse competition: The Rolex, 3 day Event. Actually, I only went to one night and two of the gals, Crystal and Chrissy, went to the whole thing. Vanessa and I hung out with Vanessa's good friend, Joy. We had a great time driving around Lexington, seeing the flowers and trees in bloom at the Lexington Cementary, driving around the horse farms and seeing miles and miles of wooden fences and rolling pasteurs and horses worth millions of dollars. We also went to Keeneland Race tracks. We ate breakfast there and watched the horses train. There were no races that day, but we got to pet one of the horses that was training on the track.
We came back home and it seem like Camden had changed so much. He was very glad to see me and I was glad to see him. He did great with Dad and a couple of baby-sitters, though. Then we helped Vanessa paint Adelyn's room. She wanted to get it ready for Adelyn's birthday party that weekend. It was fun coming up with ideas and decor for a girly room!
After the weekend, I had jury duty Monday. I called to find out if I had to show up or not, and found out I was a standby. So I had to call a little later and found out that I did not have to show up. Whew! Not that I don't mind doing my civic duty, I just had a lot going on at that time and it would not have been the best for my plans.
May 5th, Camden and I left for Texas to visit the grandparents! We got to Texas on Wednesday and came back on Wednesday, May 19th. So this was a long visit. We enjoyed spending time with Gramma and Papaw, Grandmother, Granddad and Matthew. We even made the drive to Lubbock to see Stephen and Kaylin and Granddaddy and Dorothy. Stephen graduated Summa cum laude from Texas Tech with a Civil Engineering degree. We are all very proud of them. He will be starting his career at Exxon Mobil in Houston. Stephen and Kaylin will also be having a baby in November. Camden will have two new cousins to play with soon! On the way home from Texas, we were at the Houston airport. We boarded on time. Not too long after we boarded, the pilot informed us of a maintenance issue with the plane. The mechanics were looking into it but it would be a few minutes (15-20). After about 20 minutes of sitting on the plane not going anywhere, the pilot told us that we needed to deplane because the issue was not fixed and it could still be some time. We ended up leaving Houston 2 hours later than we were supposed to, but Camden did great the whole trip. He wore me out exploring all over the gate and nearby gates. He made friends with pretty much everyone stuck waiting for the flight. And had the best attitude. Camden finally fell asleep on the flight home and the drive home to Colorado Springs. We were so thankful to make it safely home and to see Kevin again.
After some rest on Thursday, we got back into the routine of being home. I spent Saturday helping Vanessa and Brad with some stuff on their house. We hosted Secret Sisters together at their house on Monday. It was a lot of fun preparing and hosting the party!! I think everyone had a good time. Sunday, I baked a cake for the Secret Sisters party and then our life group met and we ended life group by watching the series finale of LOST. I like the show but I am kind of glad that it is finally over, now I don't have to reserve my Tuesday nights for watching Lost.
I guess that about sums up what we have been up to the past few weeks. Looking ahead, I have Family Bible Week to prepare for... I am in charge of the 0-2 year olds. Fun, Fun!
Anyways, a little bit more about Camden's development:
*He is officially a little copycat. He repeats almost anything anybody says or does.
*Still loves basketball, while in Lubbock, he saw some kids playing basketball and almost cried when I would not let him go out and play with them. He stood at the door for a while saying "basketball" over and over.
* Loves swimming! He saw the pool at the hotel we stayed at on the way to Lubbock and kept saying "water, water!" When we left to go eat, he was sad that we had to leave the water. I even used the water to get him to eat his broccoli at dinner. After dinner we all changed into our swim gear and took him to the pool. He had a blast. His favorite thing was dunking mom and Papaw under the water. In Lubbock, he woke up from a nap saying "water, water", my mom was with him and thought he wanted something to drink, so she offered it to him and he pushed it away. Then he walked to the door and tried to open it saying, "water, water". He wanted to go swimming! He now gets on the floor on his belly and says "I'm swimming!" So cute!
*Loves singing! He sings along with any and every song. He can even spelly Dorothy thanks to the Wiggles, "Dorothy, the Dinosaur". He can sing his ABCs and all kinds of other songs. It is so cute!
