Summer Days or Daze?

We have had a lot going on since the last post. We celebrated Kevin's 31st birthday on June the 8th. Kevin took the day off and our plans were to go to the Children's Museum in Denver. But in the wee hours of the morning, Camden woke up vomiting. He ended up being sick for the rest of the day and the next. So we spent Kevin's birthday taking care of a sick child.

We all got involved in Family Bible Week (VBS) at church. I was put in charge of the nursery - 2 year olds, Kevin helped out with singing, and Camden was an attendee. It was a lot of fun but also hard work and I was thankful when it ended. (We will have pictures of this soon.)

Camden and I have been on various hikes and walks on various days, but it has been hot lately so we try to stay cool and do indoors things too. We've gone to the indoor playground at the mall. We went to a splash park, but the water was pretty cold, so Camden wasn't crazy about it. We also bought Camden a wading pool that he has enjoyed a few times.

Towards the end of June, we planned a zoo trip with our friends the Leonards', but it did not happen. Camden woke up that morning with more vomiting. This time he had fever for three days. I took him to the doctor, but they said it was just a upper respiratory virus. Thankfully he was better by the fourth of July, so we were able to celebrate with some friends. We had a nice grill-out with the Malizzis', Leonards', Millers' and Hammitts'. We also lit a few fireworks too. Unfortunately, our firework display did not last long because of some heavy rain and hail.

On the 5th of July, Camden and I took a road trip to Nebraska to visit the Kites'. We had a blast hanging out with our dear, good friends that we miss so much! Camden enjoyed having a buddy to play with all week long. He also enjoyed playing with Jacob's train table, saying "hi" to the dogs and giving kisses and hugs to baby Shaelyn. Camden was an excellent traveler. I barely knew he was with me most of the time.

We got back from our trip to Nebraska and I co-hosted a shower for my friend, Crystal. She is having her third boy. I am thinking she will have her hands full for the next 14-18 years! We had a great turnout.

Stay tuned for upcoming events: my parents are visiting, hopefully rescheduled trips to the zoo and Children's Museum and Camden's 2nd birthday in September!

What's up with Camden? (you may or may not ask)

1. Loves trains! He loves this song: Down by the station, early in the morning
See the little puffer-billies all in a row.
See the engine driver pull the little handle.
Chug-chug. Toot. Toot. Off we go!
He will have us singing this to him 30 times in a row most days!

2. Still loves basketball. But he has discovered a few new sports too. He likes to play baseball and "hit it". He also likes to play golf and "hit it". For some reason, he likes hockey. He also likes soccer and he likes to "kick it".

3. Fascinated with tunnels. In fact, there was a short-lived fussy bout on the road trip that I was able to divert because we looked for tunnels. (Overpasses that we went under.)

4. New phrases. Talks in the third person. "Camden sit here." "Camden downstairs too." etc.

5. As of today, has sat on his new training potty and actually peed in it! Afterwards, he was fascinated by what he did and wants to keep sitting on the potty! Oh no, I am not sure I am ready for this!

Sounds like you all have been busy! Camden is such a cutie - I really wish I was around him (and you guys) more often! I had two year olds at VBS too - fun but challenging! :)
