I just wanted to put in a quick update on the past week or so. Pictures will follow soon when I have time to edit and organize them.
I guess we will start with last week and Carson waking up Friday morning with croup. Ugggh. We held out until Saturday before we went to the doctor, but since it got worse we decided he might need a little something to ease his breathing. He did great and was happy at the doctor's office and he weighed 15 pounds and 4 ounces which is 12 ounces less than he weighed a month and a half ago. I am pretty sure that he lost the weight because he hasn't been nursing every hour all night long anymore. He now sleeps 10+ hours without eating. Also, he is a little more mobile. He isn't crawling but loves cruising around furniture or holding on to my fingers and walking around the house. My poor back. Unfortunately, even though Carson's breathing got better, he felt worse. The culprit was/is four teeth trying to poke through on the top. For three full days his gums were swollen, red and hurting. And all he wanted to do was nurse non-stop. So that is what I did, pretty much. I sat with him outside, on the couch, at the table or on the bed and just let him comfort his poor gums. Needless to say, my house suffered and things got pretty messy around here. Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, the littlest bit of two teeth popped through and my unhappy camper turned back into his old self! And this morning, he woke up with lots of smiles and happy chats, giggles and clapping all morning!
And while we are talking about my little Carson, I just have to say that he is the cutest baby in the world. And apparently I am not biased, because I get comments and compliments about him everywhere we go. One lady told me that he should be a baby model and that she would buy a box of diapers with his face on it!! He has beautiful blue eyes that sparkle with joy and a perfectly round head with the finest, wispiest brown hair. His smile is so darn cute! And he loves to scrunch up his face and wave at people.
Since Carson was sick over the weekend, Kevin spent some quality time with Camden. They went out Friday evening, Saturday during the day some and we all went walking Sunday evening. On Monday, Carson was still feeling bad and Kevin, of course, had to work, so Camden got to watch tv. I really limit the amount of television Camden watches and most of the time he goes 3 or 4 days without watching any television and when he does watch a show, he gets one half hour show. Well, Camden was ecstatic to get to watch more than one show on Monday. (I am not going to tell you how many hours of tv he actually watched, but lets just say that it was a lot.) Tuesday he had school and then we went to a playground with Camden's good friend, Westin. Then it was "Back to School Night" at PPCS and we went for dinner and to meet and talk to Camden's teacher. Camden also got to play on the playground there. On Wednesday, Vanessa came over and helped me clean my severely, neglected house and Camden and Hayden played the whole morning. Thursday, Camden had school and then I picked up little Zachary (6 month old) and watched him for his mommy. (They are moving to a new house and she needed time to pack.) Both babies took a nap while Camden was at school and woke up just before we had to leave to pick Camden up. We drove through Chick-fil-a drive through, I just didn't see myself being able to fix everyone's lunches while caring for two babies and came home to get everyone fed. After lunch, Carson, Camden and Zachary had the best time sitting on the floor and playing with each other. By the time Carrie came to pick Zachary up, he was ready for a nap again and so was Carson. We finished yesterday by taking Camden to his first soccer practice (on a team). He did great and even scored a goal while they were scrimmaging.
I finished up yesterday evening with a girls night out. I ate dinner with the ladies from church at Panera and then went to the movies to see The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Cute movie!
