Poor Little Neglected Blog

I have not made time to blog in about 3 months! I really have no excuse except that I do find myself keeping busy with two energetic, fun-loving boys! I am going to go ahead and just start fresh with now instead of trying to recap everything since Halloween.

The boys are growing and changing and getting cuter every day. I love Camden's age now. He is mostly thoughtful, respectful, generous and polite. He is inquisitive, social, energetic and smart. He seems to learn something new every hour and he amazes me sometimes with the things that he knows. Camden loves to make up songs that he sings about everything that he does. One day when I was singing "I Can See Clearly Now" as we drove around (on a bright beautiful day), Camden asked me if I made that song up. I told him no and that a man named Johnny Nash wrote the song. Camden asked me if Johnny Nash was my friend and I said no, I don't know him. And Camden immediately said back to me: "But mom, you are supposed to be friends with everybody." I love him! And Camden does get along with just about everyone. I really hope that he continues to be friendly and kind to everyone he meets. I will have to up my game and make sure that I am modelling that for him!

Other random fun stories of Camden:
At a shopping trip to the mall, Camden shook hands with several Dillard's employees, and introduced himself like this: "Hi, I'm Camden, I am four and I have iron man shoes!" The employees of course shook his hand and responded back to him. I am so glad that I live in a friendly city! I know in some places people may have given me dirty looks for not keeping him in check. But I really think he may have made those people's day or at least gave them something to smile about for a while.
Camden is learning phonics and just about has it down. Now we are working on putting sounds together to read words. He can do very simple ones like: bat, up, cat, etc. I love working with him on school stuff and I am very excited that I am going to homeschool him for kindergarten next year. It will be fun!
Camden is usually a great helper for me around the house. He loves to help in the kitchen with anything! It can be a little more challenging to get him to pick up his toys but he usually does it without too much complaint. He does move SLOW when he is having to do something that he doesn't really want to do. Timers come in handy for that!
I had a parent-teacher conference with Camden's preschool teacher, Mrs. Gregory. She said that Camden was doing great, of course, but he struggled sometimes with moving on to the next activity, because he was still working on finishing what he is doing. He really takes his time with his work and does a neat job for a four year old. I thought to myself, as I heard her say this, "If this is what he struggles with, then I am glad, because it is a good thing for kids to learn to finish what they start."

Now on to Carson. He is so precious and cute! He has gained more and more independence but is still very attached to Mom. He plays very well with Camden and I love hearing them play together in the playroom while I get ready for the day. Carson is now 17 months old as I am writing this. He says lots of words, I couldn't possibly remember them right now. Some of his favorites for now are 1-2-3 jump (he bends down and comes up really fast) and hot (and then he makes a blowing sound after he says it). Carson has had several colds over the past couple of months. Right now, he is recovering from a cold he had over the weekend. It seems the pattern is cold symptoms for a week, good for a week and then repeat. I think this has happened 3 or 4 times now. I am ready for him to stay well for a while! He also has some of all toddler molars poking through, but they are taking their sweet time coming all the way out. Another thing I will be glad to be through with. Carson is still a tiny thing, but he has grown since his 15 month check-up (17 pounds) and now weighs between 18-19 pounds depending on if he is dressed or naked! I am pretty sure he  has grown about an inch in height too, or at least I hope he has!

Well, I guess that about covers the kids and I know people do not want to hear about me, so I will leave you with some pictures and see you next time (hopefully sooner than 3 months time!)
