It seems like it has been forever since I have posted something on this blog. I need to be better about it, since I am using this as a journal for my beautiful, baby boy. So what has happened in the past couple of weeks?
My broken leg - I started off the month of February by slipping in the ice and breaking my leg. I have a spiral fracture in my right fibula, and when I went to an orthopedic, he said I was in the line for surgery. He and I both decided to wait a week and look at it again, this time with an ankle specialist. The nurse put a cast on my leg and I went on, hobbling on crutches and not being able to do anything for myself. A week later, I had my follow-up appointment with the specialist and he said about the same thing, leaning towards not doing surgery. I was also leaning towards no surgery, just because I am not a fan, who is? He said I could begin to put a little weight on my leg and to let pain be my guide. I tried that out and although It wasn't too painful, my ankle swelled and made my cast tight and extremely uncomfortable. I do not think I am ready for the weight just yet. Recovery from this type of break will be pretty long, and since I am a pretty active person, it has been hard and it has only been two weeks. This experience is definitely a lesson in humility for me, because I am usually the one caring for others and it is hard for me to let other people take care of me. I am extremely grateful for my friends, Vanessa and Crystal. They have helped out with cooking and taking care of Camden. I have also come to love and appreciate my husband so much more. He is a selfless, hard-working man who has taken on a lot of my responsibilities while working two jobs. I am so very blessed!
Camden - Where do I begin? He is learning so much and getting so big. He actually outgrew a pair of 18m jeans. I put them on him the other day and they looked too short! They are a pair that I have never had to roll up, though. Most of his 18m pants I still have to roll up. I noticed the other day that he is running. When did he learn that? It is very cute to watch him run across the room when he is excited or run away from the older kids. He loves to go! When people walk out the door, he wants to go with them. He walks over to the door and says "bye-bye?" Then he will find his shoes and sometimes his coat, so he will be ready to go too. Camden understands almost everything you tell him, it is pretty amazing. And he is learning how to respond to questions that we ask him. For instance, when I asked him what he wanted for breakfast the other day, he said "Pancakes". So Daddy made him pancakes. He is also a big flirt. At the doctor's office he was smiling and talking to the nurses and even let one of them hold him. Then at the dentist office, it was the same thing. It is very hard to remember all that he is doing, but I will try to remember a few more:
Says: Aunt V (for Vanessa), See ya, Bye and says the name of the person leaving ("Bye Dominic"), Amen at the end of prayers, Jesus, God, and Bible class, choo-choo, airplane, vacuum, Bob the builder (one of his favorite videos), milk, juice, uses please all the time (we are still working on thank you - he can say it but doesn't use it most of the time), walk (when he wants to get down and walk), Get down, hold you (for hold me), rocket (from Little Einstein's), No, No, No, don't do that and love you.
Other things: tries to sing along with the songs we sing him or ones on his cds, dances and turns in circles, attempts to jump by bending down and coming up really fast, bends over and puts his head between his legs, gives closed-mouth kisses to daddy and open-mouth kisses to mommy?!, opens his mouth really wide when he is about to do something he knows he is not supposed to do (and it is pretty cute, so it is hard not to laugh), uses a fork and a spoon, begs for food from others like he is never fed, climbs upstairs but is afraid to come downstairs on his own, and pulls on your fingers when he wants you to go with him somewhere...
I know there are other things and if I remember them, I will post them later...
Kevin - I am not sure if I posted this before, but all who read this blog probably already know that Kevin and his friend, Brian, started a business this past fall. The business name is Poop Ninjas. If you are confused about that, they are a pet waste clean-up service. The business started out pretty slow, but that was okay since they had a very low overhead. In the month of January they really started to gain lots of work and so now in the month of February they are having to turn down potential clients and are looking at hiring someone!!! They are excited about the possibilities that will come with a successful business.
I guess this about all for now. Hopefully, I can be better at posting in the future!
