The Last of Summer 2010

We have had a great summer, full of lots of activities, moving and travelling.

In July, my parents came to visit and during their visit we looked at houses and found one to rent. We packed lots of boxes and started moving them to the new place. And the day after they left we rented a truck and our friends helped us move all the furniture and such over to the new place. It took me about two weeks to get things unpacked and settled and we closed on our house the first week of August.

Also in August, the Kites came to visit us. We went to the zoo and hung out at the Goods' home. It was very good to see them. Camden and I also went to Water World with Vanessa and the kids. Camden loved playing in the water and it was a great day for everyone.

Speaking of Vanessa, we have been working out doing the p90x program six days a week. We are nearly finished now with only 3 weeks to go. We have also climbed the Incline and gone hiking on a seven mile trek. I am so proud of us for sticking with such an intense program. I might take about four weeks off and then start it again!

We spent Labor Day at the balloon festival here in Colorado Springs. We actually went to both the Balloon glow on Sunday night and the launch on Monday, however, due to a front that was supposed to come in, the balloons did not launch. That was a bummer, but we will try again next year. After walking among the balloons for a while, we drove up near Helen Hunt Falls and hiked up a short trail. It was a beautiful day.

Last weekend, we went to Texas for a family birthday party for Camden. I enjoyed spending time with Kevin's and my family. We shopped and ate out and enjoyed making a cake for Camden's party. My grandmother, Aunt Teresa, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Alden and his wife and little baby, and my cousins Jarod and Kari and their two kids: Ethan and Chance, my brother and sister-in-law all cam over from Houston for the party. Kevin's parents and brother were also there. And my best friend from college, Rachael drove over from Shreveport to spend time with us! Needless to say, we had a great time. Camden received many great presents including: clothes, cars, trains, laptop, puzzles, books, etc. Now I have to get those thank you notes in the mail!

Camden is doing great! He has started to get a bit of a two-year old personality with fits and defiance and such, but he is, most of the time, a good, well-behaved little boy. His vocabulary is expanding and his sentences are getting more complex. He also come up with interesting songs that he makes up. Like: "Paci, paci, I love you!" and "Jesus loves me, I love you!" He can tell you that his name is Camden Baxter if you ask, and it amazes me how much he knows about sports. We taught him the baseball song: "Take me out to the ballgame.." and now he asks us to sing the basketball song or the golf ball song. What do you do? I don't know any songs about golf, so I usually have to make something up because he won't stop asking until I sing something. I am contemplating potty training him soon. He has peed and pooped in the potty and he tells me most of the time when he is pooping in his diaper, I am just not sure I am ready for this!

We have Camden's upcoming doctor's appointment next week, so we will post stats from that visit next week.
