We have been dealing with an unwanted guest for the first part of November. First, Camden had a cold that turned into double ear infections and he went on antibiotics for the second time ever in his life. Then, shortly after he was feeling better, I caught a cold that turned into a sinus infection that turned into double ear infections. Kevin, too, caught a cold but seems to have a superior immune system and did not have to have antibiotics to fight off sinus or ear infections. I think we are all feeling better, so hopefully the sickness is out of our house for good!
Although the sickness seems to be gone, Camden is suffering through some teething right now. It seems his two-year molars are starting to pop through on the top. This has altered his mood a little and he is a little bit more fussy and clingy than usual. I am hoping it won't last long!
We are gearing up for the holidays. Next week we will be leaving for Austin, Texas. I cannot wait. We get to see so many relatives we haven't seen in over a year. Plus, we get to see two nephews for the first time (Gabriel and Oliver). Oliver will only be two weeks old when we see him! I am so excited for Camden to play with his cousins! This is the break-down of who we will be seeing (that I know of...)
Tommy and Linda(my parents)
Philip and Heater (my brother and sister-in-law)
Callie(2), Gabriel(5 months)
Stephen and Kaylin (my brother and sister-in-law)
Oliver(2 weeks)
Uncle David and Aunt Shirlene
Lydia (my cousin)
Adalai(2, Lydia's daughter)
Abi (my cousin)
Uncle Leroy and Aunt Wanda
Kevin and Jennifer (cousin and wife)
Kami and Brandon (cousin and husband)
Ryan(4, Kami and Brandon's son)
Audra(1, Kami and Brandon's daughter)
Aunt Linda
Christy(Aunt Linda's granddaughter)
Aurora(2, Christy's daughter)
Not so sure about anyone else in the family, but there could be a few more. As you can see, there will be quite a few little ones running around. Should be very interesting!
Camden's language skills are improving daily it seems. His ability to understand and voice abstract thoughts are also increasing on a daily basis. I wish I could remember all the cute and clever things he says, but it gets harder and harder to remember everything.
On an academic level, he can count from 1-20. He can put numbers in order out of context (if that makes sense): If I ask him, "What comes after five?", he will say six. He is getting better at recognizing different colors. He now knows the difference between blue, red, green, orange, purple and pink. He can recognize several letters of the alphabet A,B,C and D for sure and can sometimes spell his name. And he can recite one nursery rhyme from memory: Humpty Dumpty. I am not sure when he learned this, but for some reason he really likes it.
The other day we went to Costco for some shopping and food sampling:)! They had quite a few samples of soups out. The first one we tried was a Chicken Noodle. Camden did not even want to try a noodle of this soup. The next soup we sampled was a French onion soup. Camden ate the entire sample of this soup. How many two-year olds like French onion soup? He also really loved the tomato basil soup we sampled. Funny kid.
